Ufood Grill and Scream 4

18 Apr

Originally I had planned to check out Cambridge 1 on Friday, but I wasn’t in the mood for a big meal so I ended up checking out Ufood Grill in Fenway before the big movie. Ufood is located right next to the Regal Fenway movie theatre so it was nice and convenient before the big movie. I was excited to try this place after reading a few reviews from fellow Boston food bloggers. Ufood Grill is “where delicious meets nutritious” so it sounded like something that I would enjoy. They had a large menu full of plenty of things I would like to try like salads, Panini’s, black bean chili and a veggie burger. They also had calorie counts on the menu which I really like because it helps me make smarter choices.

I decided on the Mediterranean salad. For $6 it was mediocre at best. The vegetables weren’t very fresh. The lettuce had multiple brown spots on it. The onions were inedible. My favorite park of a Greek salad is the pepperocini and this one looked so disgusting that I didn’t even eat it. I always get dressing on the side of salads because I love the taste of vegetables and feel like I only need dressing if the vegetables aren’t fresh… In this case,  I used a large majority of the dressing. I left kind of disappointed because panera was next door and for the close to the same amount of money I could have gotten their delicious Greek salad with a cup of black bean soup and a whole wheat baguette.

Mike got the burger with fries and he was incredibly happy with his. He said it was the best burger he had in a while. I stole a few fries, which are called unfries here because they are baked not fried and they were pretty good.

Greek salad is one of my very favorite foods, so maybe I am being a bit harsh. I think I may try it again and get the veggie burger next time. One thing that I really liked besides the access to nutrition information was that it really was fast. From the time it took to place our order our food was ready in 5 minutes. This was good because we had a movie to get to!

I had bought a Living Social deal that was $9 for two tickets from fandango. The Fenway theatre has a special theatre called the Regal Premium Experience. Tickets are $15 but the theatre promises crystal clear picture, a giant screen and surround sound. I think it’s geared more towards 3d movies, but I figured since I had a deal why not go big or go home? The theatre was HUGE!

012

This picture doesn’t do it justice but it was the biggest movie theatre I had ever been in. We got there early because I thought it would be crowded and I’m picky about my seat.

014

Such comfortable seating! Overall the theatre was pretty cool and I would pick that one the next time I see a 3d movie but not for just a regular one. Also, if you are a Scream fan, definitely see Scream 4. It was really good and I didn’t see the ending coming at all!

Please checkout my updated recipe page.. I can’t believe I have cooked that much! I also added a fun page with things I have done in and around Boston and would love if you checked it out! Thanks :)

The OtherSide

27 Mar

Friday was my 26th birthday. To celebrate I had a delicious dinner at Antico Forno in the North End. Unfortunately, I didn’t take any pictures but I got a delicious dish made with fusilli pasta, eggplant, zucchini, tomato sauce and goat cheese. I highly recommend it if you are ever in the area. To continue the celebrations I went to one of my favorite vegetarian friendly restaurants called the The OtherSide.

177

The OtherSide is located on Newbury Street and has many vegetarian and vegan options as well as meat options. This makes it a perfect place to go if you are a vegetarian and have many meat lovers in your life!

179

We started with The OtherSide Nachos described as tortilla chips topped with melted cheddar, jalapeños, our vegetarian chili and salsa. The vegetarian chili is my favorite thing on the menu and it’s made with organic beans, tomatoes, corn and bulgur wheat. (Source)

I love these nachos because they aren’t smothered in cheese and sour cream. I do wish that they had more veggies and salsa on them, but the chili makes up for that. For my meal I went with the vegan BLT made with tempeh bacon, lettuce, tomato, vegan mayo on multi grain bread. I had the 1/2 and 1/2 combo and decided on 1/2 of a simple salad because I knew I’d be pretty stuffed from the nachos.

183

Sorry for the poor quality picture, but I dove right in! I have had this sandwich before and I think it is SO good! The tempeh bacon that they use tastes so good and I really need to try and make it some time. The next time I go I need to pick something else though… I always get the BLT or the chili in some form and there are so many other options on the menu that I am dying to try. This did hit the spot for me though!

My friend got the turkey club on french bread and reported that it was delicious. This picture doesn’t also really do it much justice, but the sandwich was huge!

Another successful meal from The OtherSide. I really wish that Boston had more vegetarian friendly restaurant like The OtherSide.

When you go out to eat do you always pick the same thing or do you like to branch out? I always pick the same thing, I need to branch out more!

Restaurant Week Boston

16 Mar

Oh hey there, hope you didn’t miss me too much. Sometimes life gets busy and I forget about my blog, but I really missed it so I am back!

Right now it’s Restaurant Week in Boston. During Restaurant Week participating restaurants have a pre-fixed 2 or 3 course menu for lunch and/or dinner. 2 course lunches are $15.11, 3 course lunch is 20.11 and 3 course dinner is $33.11. Truthfully, I am not always nuts about restaurant week because I can usually spend a lot less than $30 when I go out, but I decided to try it out this year and I was not disappointed.

107

I went to Risorante Villa Francesca in the North End.  I used to live in the North End but never made it to this particular restaurant. Side note: Two of my favorite affordable restaurants in the North End are L’Osteria and Massimino’s.

108

The reason I ended up choosing this one was based on the  menu which had multiple different choices that sounded pretty delicious to me.

109

We started with a bottle of Geyser Peak Sauvignon Blanc which was delicious but on the expensive side for the cheapest bottle of wine that they had ($38)

110

For my appetizer I got the lobster ravioli. I am pretty sure this was the whole reason that I wanted to go there and it did not disappoint!

111

Seriously! So delicious! It was mixed with a light cream sauce that had tiny bits of shrimp in it as well. The sauce was delicious, normally I don’t like cream sauce but this was very good.

For me entree I got the Fettuccine Con Gamberi which was fettuccine mixed with shrimp, basil and tomato cream sauce.

113

This was also delicious. The shrimp were really big and flavorful and I loved the sauce that this was in. I made myself save half for later because I knew I wanted to be able to eat it again, an save room for dessert!

For dessert I got the cannoli. It was pretty cool because they made it right in front of you. The waitress came over with an empty cannoli shell, added the filling, and then you got to choose between chocolate chips, walnuts and powdered sugar. I got the chocolate chips and powdered sugar and it was perfect.

114

Sorry for the blurry picture! I already took a bite before I remembered to take one and it was so delicious I could only snap a quick one!

Overall, I thought that everything was delicious and I would definitely go back. Right now they have a seafood menu special which was very similar to the restaurant week one and it’s $34.95 for 3 courses.

Boston people: Did you go anywhere for restaurant week? If you made a post feel free to share!

Everyone else: Do they do restaurant week where you live? Do you go out for it?
