I have a short attention span. I can’t read long blog posts and I can’t write them either so I’m going to break up my weekend into two posts!
I had a great weekend! It was great weather and I did fun Massachusetts things thanks to groupon. I’m sure you’ve heard of groupon, but if you haven’t it’s a site that you can buy coupons for fun events, restaurants, spa’s, etc. The catch is that there’s a certain amount of people that have to buy the coupon in order for the deal to go through. If you click the link above it will bring you to the site and if you sign up and buy something I’ll get 10 groupon dollars. Pretty cool right? Anyway, this past weekend I have three groupons that were expiring so I planned my weekend getting these activities done. It was almost like a staycation!
First up was a sunset cruise around the Boston harbor on Friday night. I actually had an opportunity to go on this cruise for free earlier in the summer so I had already gone. We lucked out because it was gorgeous weather.
Such a pretty city! Basically you just boat around the harbor. It was fun but since I have no attention span I wish it was 60 minutes, not 90! The cruise was PACKED and a ton of people didn’t even have seats! I enjoyed a few glasses of wine and it was a nice way to say good bye to summer.
Next up on Saturday was my favorite fall activity- apple picking! Apple picking is so much fun but I am pretty sure it’s not supposed to be over 80 degrees while you do it. Oh well I still had so much fun! We went to a place called Russell Orchards. It was awesome! Although we didn’t have a groupon for the apple picking we decided on this orchard because there were a lot of things to do and it was close to our next stop.
I love pumpkin patches! I didn’t get a pumpkin though because I want to wait a little longer before I carve up a cute pumpkin.
Another reason I wanted to go to this orchard was because they have hard cider tastings! The cider was good but we didn’t end up buying any. They also had tons of other fun goodies like honey and PB&Co peanut butter! There was hot and cold apple cider. I really wanted a hot apple cider but once we were done picking I was so sweaty the last thing I needed was a hot drink. I also tried my first cider donut… amazing!
The actual apple picking was great! They give you a hay ride to the orchards and also hook you up with a map so you can go find your apples. It was $15 per bag and I got so many delicious apples. I don’t even know what I am going to do with them! I had a blast and I would definitely go back to Russell Orchards again.
I already want to go back again!
What’s your favorite fall activity? What should I do with all of my apples?
Thanks so much for the support on signing up for my first 10k! I actually did a 6.2 mile run on Saturday!! Truthfully, it wasn’t the best run ever but I do feel prepared. The run sucked because it was over 80 out, I had a few glasses of wine and Mexican the night before, and I planned on running a loop 4 times (crazy much?). After the first mile my stomach hurt, I had to go to the bathroom and I was really thirsty. I decided to run 4 miles outside and then finish the last 2 at the gym. Since I live practically next door to the gym it seemed like the best idea because I could go to the bathroom, have water, and not really take a break on the running. It was a good plan because truthfully if I was racing I would have had to stop to go to the bathroom anyway, you know? I ended up finishing in 1:19 including the break. My goal for the race is just to finish under 1:30 because that’s the cut off time and I am sure I can do it.
Stay tuned for Groupon Weekend part 2!
