I’m not much of a baker and here’s why:
1. I don’t like to follow recipes and I feel like with baking you need to.
2. I don’t have much experience and whenever I try and make a “healthier” version of something, it’s usually kind of gross
3. Lastly, I don’t have many of the ingredients you need to bake delicious treats and don’t like to bring multiple types of sugar and chocolate into my apartment. Everything in moderation is NOT one of my forte’s!
However it’s the Christmas season and I’ve really only had one thing on my mind. Holiday Montana Whoppers!
I have been eyeing this recipe for MONTHS, months I tell you! But I have been putting it off because I knew I didn’t have a lot of the ingredients in my apartment and didn’t have a good time to make them. Well, the good time just came up this past weekend! I had it in my head that I wanted to make these for Christmas presents for my coworkers, but wanted to give them a quick run through to make sure they were as delicious as they sound and look. I had plans to go visit a friend this weekend and I figured it was the perfect opportunity!
Check out the recipe here. You’ll need all of these delicious ingredients.
The recipe also calls for white chocolate chip which I didn’t use, and butter which I forgot to photograph.
Don’t worry I remembered to photograph the melting butter. While the butter was melting I mixed all of my sugars and baking powder together.
The I added my melted butter and peanut butter- you must use crunchy for the delicious crunchiness throughout!
Next you add in your eggs then the good stuff, chocolate and chocolate chips!
Lastly, slowly add in the oats. Don’t forget to eat lots of samples as long as you aren’t afraid of raw eggs.
Look at that dough! Serioulsy, how delicious does it look? Best cookies ever! Here is where I sort of messed up. I didn’t notice the recipe said that you should refrigerate the dough for 2 hours before baking. Woops! At this point it was almost noon and I was leaving at 1 so I just went with it.
It probably would have been easier to handle the dough had it had time to harden, but they still turned out delicious. You should definitely make these this holiday season, you won’t regret it. I would suggest making them for others or for a party because this recipe made a ton of cookies!
What’s your favorite holiday item to bake?

I don’t personally make it, and I’m not sure if it’s considered baking, but my favorite holiday treat has always been chocolate fudge. Nothing says Christmas like a good piece of fudge
Montana Whoppers?! Ha! I love that name. These look delish. Anything with M&Ms is a-ok in my book!
Mmmm . . I think we called these “monster cookies” when I was little. For the holidays, we usually make a lot of “almond roca”, which is like an almond brittle with a chocolate coating. Rather hard to make, but delicious!
YUM! I agree with you…I’m not much of a baker either. I hate rules in the kitchen! These cookies looks awesome!
Ashleigh, those cookies look amazing! And peanut butter, chocolate chips, and oats are three of my favorite ingredients (in fact, like you, I’m a little hesitant to keep them in the house). Way to go on those cookies, and thanks for the recipe =)
Ooh those look good! My huz asked me to make him some cookies with peanut m&ms in them. I should try it with this recipe and add peanut m&ms instead of regular!
I’m thrilled to see that you made up a holiday batch (or batches) of Montana Whoppers! They’re the perfect kind of cookie to alter based on personal preference, and the holiday M&Ms look great in them!
Happy Holidays, Ashleigh!
Looks super yummy!! I could eat that dough alone and be happy! Mt sister used to make a white chocolate chex mix thing during Xmas and I loved it–I need to get the recipe!
